The Administration and affairs of the office of the Labour & Employment, Diu is being looked after by the Labour Inspector, Diu with the Assistance of only LDC presently the post of Labour Inspector, Diu is lying vacant since 2008.
 

Function:

 
  • > The main function of Labour and Employment Office, Diu is to register job seeker and to sponsor the names of the candidates for the various vacancies as well as renewal of the registration card X-10
  • > The registration of the applicant is covered under the compulsory notification of vacancies Act, 1959
  • > The total numbers of the applicants at present on live register is 4879 in the Labour and Employment Office, Diu under various category. Out of which 1894 are female candidate.
  • > The office is sponsoring the names of the candidates to various offices situated at Daman and Diu U. T. whenever requisition for filling up the vacancies arise
  • > The office has to enforce various Labour Laws in the District i.e. Goa, Daman and Diu shops and Establishment Act, 1973 and Rules of 1975, Child Labour Prohibition and Regulations) Act, 1936, payment Bonus Act, 1965, Factory Act, 1948, Industrial Dispute Act, 1947 and Employment Exchange (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies) Act, 1959
  • > The Labour Inspector, Diu has also to process carefully and deal with in-utmost legality many cases/ suites filed by the applicant under the Industrial Dispute Act, 1947
  • > Total Number of shops and establishment registered in this office are 477 Shops, 18 Industries and 52 Hotels
 

Powers:

 
The Mamlatdar, Diu has been delegated the powers of Head of Office cum Drawing and Disbursing Officer, Diu in respect of Labour and Employment Office, Diu

The Hon'ble Collector, Diu has been delegated the powers of Head of Department under Schedule V to VII under the delegation of Financial Power Rules vide order dated 09-11-2012 in respect of all the offices stationed at Diu
