Functions of Mamlatdar, Diu:

 
The Government has sanction the post of Mamlatdar, Diu and in addition to the said post, the Mamlatdar, Diu is also looking after the work of Block Development Office, Diu, Head of Office of Superintendent of Sub Jail, Diu, Government Mini Printing Press, Diu and Veterinary Office, Diu

The Mamlatdar has to work under the Land Revenue Code and Rules made there under and under the said rules the Land Revenue Code and other Revenue has to be recovered. The Survey Record and Land Record are also required to be maintained for which the Mamlatdar has been authorized to conduct mutation cases of Land Revenue Code and issue report for N.A. sale permission, Sub-Division and Amalgamation of Lands, Issue of Site Plans in respect of Rural areas.
 

The Mamlatdar has to issue the following certificates/ N.O.C. :

 
 
The Government has authorized the Mamlatdar, Diu for attestation of documents which are required to be produced at Portugal Embassy, Panaji, Goa and Lisbon, Portugal.

The Mamlatdar, Diu is also a member of many committees such as Forest Settlement Committee, Coastal Regulation Zone Committee, Conversion of use of Agricultural Lands, Allotment of Lands to SC/ST and allotment huts to fisherman. He has to maintain Law and Order in any festival to be celebrated in Diu District. During the time of natural calamities like cyclone, earthquake and heavy rainfall etc. he has to report to the higher authorities for the event.

The Mamlatdar, Diu is also appointed as Executive Magistrate in rural area. The Law and Order of that area is to be maintained, dying declaration, inquest panchnama and identification parade also to be conducted. The Mamlatdar has to conduct the chapter cases and execution of Affidavits being an Executive Magistrate.

The Mamlatdar, Diu has to look after the work of Elections such as Lok Sabha, Municipalities, Village Panchayats and District Panchayat and he is also appointed as Asstt. Returning Officer in Elections of Municipalities, Panchayat and District Panchayats.

The Mamlatdar, Diu is in-charge of any kind of survey works such as Population, Census, Live Stock Census, Agricultural Census, Economic Census etc.

Over and above, Mamlatdar, Diu has to attend the functions during the visits of VIPs and VVIPs.
