National Rural Health Mission: |

The National Rural Health Mission is implemented in Diu with special focus to provide quality health care and an aim to achieve the goals of the Mission. |

The Vision: |
- The National Rural Health Mission (2005-12) seeks to provide effective healthcare to rural area.
- A village health plan prepared through a local team headed by the Health & Sanitation Committee of the Panchayat.
- Strengthening of the rural hospital for effective curative care & for strengthening institutional delivery.
- It seeks to revitalize local health traditions and mainstream AYUSH into the public health system. It aims at effective integration of health concerns with determinants of health like sanitation & hygiene, nutrition, and safe drinking water through a District Plan for Health.
- It seeks decentralization of programmes for district management of health.

Goals: |
- Reduction in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR)
- Universal access to public health services such as Women’s health,Child health, water, sanitation & hygiene, immunization, and Nutrition.
- Prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases, including locally endemic diseases.
- Access to integrated comprehensive primary healthcare.
- Population stabilization, gender and demographic balance.
- Revitalize local health traditions and mainstream AYUSH.
- Promotion of healthy life styles.
- Rogi Kalyan Samitti / Hospital Management are formed in Diu District.
- Village Health Sanitation Committee are formed at 4 Village Panchayat zone.

Janani Suraksha Yojana: |
Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is a safe motherhood intervention under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) |
|
Vision: |
- To reduce overall maternal mortality ratio and infant mortality rate.
- To increase institutional deliveries in BPL families.
|
|
Objective: |
- Reducing maternal and neo-natal mortality by promoting institutional delivery among the poor pregnant women.
- The success of the scheme would be determined by the increase in institutional delivery among the poor families.
- The Yojana has identified ASHA, the accredited social health activist as an effective link between the Government and the poor pregnant women in low performing states

Cash Assistance under JSY: |
- BPL or SC/ST mothers from Rural area who are delivering in Government Hospitals/ Accredited Private Hospitals- ` 600/-
- it should be direct deposit to beneficial account based on aadhar card.

Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram: |
Objectives: |
- Eliminating out-of-pocket expenses for families of pregnant women and sick newborns in government health facilities
- Reaching the unreached pregnant women
- Timely access to care for sick newborns– Free and cashless delivery

JSSK Entitlement for Pregnant Women: |
- Free and cashless delivery
- Free C-section
- Free drugs and consumables
- Free diagnostics
- Free provision of blood
- Free diet during stay in health institutions
- Up to 3 days for normal delivery
- 7 days for Caesarean sections
- Free transport
- Home to health institution
- Between health institutions in case of referral
- Drop back home after delivery
- Exemption from all kinds of user charges, including for seeking hospital care up to 28 days post delivery (for post natal complications)
